The Blackfalds Bulldogs are proud to announce the NCAA commitment of Alex Bosland to play Division I hockey at Army West Point.
Bosland joined the Bulldogs two seasons ago, making his debut on December 6th, 2024. Bosland was acquired in a trade with the Coquitlam Express and played in 32 games for the remainder of the season, recording 1 goal and 12 assists for 13 points.
The 2005-born Defenseman is excited to continue his hockey journey for the Army Black Knights. Bosland said, “I am very excited to be going to a program like West Point, I feel the great role models I had during my time in Blackfalds have prepared me so well for. It is also a blessing to be able to embark upon this journey with 2 of my best friends that I was so lucky to spend parts of the last 2 seasons with playing in Blackfalds.”
The excitement for Bosland is felt throughout the entire Bulldogs organization. Bulldogs President of Hockey Operations, Doug Quinn, said, “The Bulldogs organization was excited to hear about Alex’s commitment to Army. Alex joined our team last year and quickly developed into one of our leaders on defence. Alex is a highly skilled player who can play in all situations, and I was impressed with his growth both on and off the ice over the past couple of seasons. I am very proud of Alex. Committing to Army requires a big sacrifice, but it will create opportunities for life after hockey. The Bulldogs organization wishes Alex all the best in the future as he moves on to the next level!”
Bosland’s elevated play this past season has resulted in 3 goals and 19 assists for 22 points in 54 games this season. The Basking Ridge, New Jersey, product brought stability to the Bulldogs’ blue line the past 2 seasons.
The praise for Bosland continued with Bulldogs Head Coach, Ryan Tobler, “Congratulations to Alex on his commitment to West Point. He has demonstrated exceptional dedication and perseverance in achieving this goal. Alex is a talented skater with a high hockey IQ and a competitive spirit. I wish him all the best in his future endeavours and take comfort in knowing he will be surrounded by his good friends and Bulldogs teammates Thomas Neu and Noah Mertz. ”
Al Parada, Bulldogs Director of Player Personnel, added his enthusiasm, “I am very proud and excited for Alex. He is a great leader with the younger players and has taken his game to a new level this season. Army is getting a great player and even better person who will definitely be an asset to their program at West Point.”
Bosland expressed his gratitude to the Bulldogs organization and his teammates. “Over the past 2 years, the culture that the organization has built has allowed me to love coming to the rink every day to compete with my teammates. Also, the support system they have in place allows us not to worry about anything besides becoming the best versions of ourselves, all while making Blackfalds feel like a home away from home.”
