Bulldogs Sign Gavin Karl

The Blackfalds Bulldogs are excited to announce the signing of 2008-born defenceman Gavin Karl for the 2026-2027 season.

Karl, who will be 18 this coming season, comes to Blackfalds from Excelsior, Minnesota, where he played High School hockey for one of the top Minnesota High School hockey programs, Minnetonka High. Karl, who stands at five-foot-eleven and weighs 170 pounds, played in 31 games for Minnetonka last season, where he had 0 goals and 7 assists for a total of 7 points. He also suited up in the Upper Midwest HS Elite League for Team MPLS Magazine where he played 20 games and had 3 goals and 8 assists for 11 points.

Bulldogs Director of Player Personnel, Al Parada, talked about Karl suiting up for the Bulldogs next season, “Gavin came into camp this spring and really impressed the whole coaching and management staff. He is a player who has poise with the puckĀ and makes smart plays both offensively and defensively. His skating ability is high-end, and he plays with a little bit of bite out there as well. I am looking forward to seeing what Gavin can do in a Bulldogs jersey next season.”

Karl is excited about joining the Bulldogs next season, “I’m really excited to join the Bulldogs next season. After visiting Blackfalds, it was easy to see the great facilities they have, coaching staff, and culture the organization has built. I’m grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started.”

The Bulldogs would like to welcome Gavin and his family to the Bulldogs organization.
