Kody Willick Makes ACAC Commitment to Red Deer Polytechnic

The Blackfalds Bulldogs are proud to announce the commitment of Kody Willick to play Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference hockey at Red Deer Polytechnic.

Willick, 20, was acquired in the summer of 2022 from the Drumheller Dragons of the AJHL, along with his twin brother Tanner. In 60 games with the Bulldogs last season, he scored 4 goals and 24 points. This season, Willick has 4 goals and 16 points in 60 games so far between the AJHL and BCHL. He also serves as the Bulldogs’ captain.

“I’m extremely excited to begin post-secondary education while still being able to play the sport that I love. Red Deer has a great program on and off the ice and I am thrilled to be a part of it,” said Willick.

Head Coach Doug Quinn had high praise for his captain, “I’m excited for Kody, he has had a significant influence on the Bulldogs organization both on and off the ice. Kody is a leader in the dressing room and is well-respected by his teammates. Kody is the first one to volunteer and has done an amazing job representing the Bulldogs in the community and a big reason why he is one of our most popular players.”

Quinn continued, “As a player, Kody is very versatile, we have used him in many different roles and he does all the small intangibles that are needed for every team to have success. Kody is a great person and teammate and will do very well at the College level.”

Bulldogs’ Director of Hockey Operations, Al Parada, expressed a similar sentiment, “I am very excited for Kody to stay in this area and get an opportunity to play College hockey at RDP with the Kings. Kody has been a true ambassador for our organization both on and off the ice and the RDP Kings are getting a good hockey player and even a better person. I look forward to watching Kody next year at some Kings games in Red Deer.”

Willick is grateful for his time in Central Alberta, “I’ve been honoured and lucky enough to have been surrounded by amazing people who have made the Red Deer area my second home. The gratitude I have towards the Bulldogs organization and everyone involved is unprecedented and I appreciate every single person I have crossed paths with in my time with Blackfalds.”

Bulldogs’ Co-Owner and Vice President of Business Operations, Jodie Quinn, added, “I am thrilled that Kody, who has been heavily involved in our community and has been an amazing ambassador for the Bulldogs, has decided to stay to continue his education, hockey and being apart of our organization. We look forward to watching Kody grow in his new chapter of life and all the good things he continues to do. Our community is so lucky to have him.”

“I wanted to thank everyone from family, coaches, teammates, management, billets, staff, and anyone else that has made my time here enjoyable. Thanks to those people, I get to continue doing what I love,” stated Willick.

Willick is the eleventh member of the Bulldogs roster with a post-secondary commitment. He will also join Bulldogs alumnus Deegan Moffard on the Kings.

The entire Bulldogs organization would like to congratulate Kody and his family on his commitment and wish him the best of luck at Red Deer Polytechnic!

The Bulldogs’ next home game is Saturday, March 16th at 6:00 pm against the Okotoks Oilers. Tickets to the game can be purchased here: https://www.showpass.com/202324-extended-bulldogs-single-game-tickets/
