The Blackfalds Bulldogs are proud to announce the commitment of Thomas Neu to play NCAA Division I hockey at Army West Point.
Neu joined the Bulldogs partway through last season, making his debut on November 29th, 2024. He played in 33 games for the remainder of the season, recording 9 goals and 11 assists for 20 points. He started the season with the Philadelphia Rebels in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) after splitting time with them and the Bismarck Bobcats in the 2023-24 season. Prior to that, he played at Mount St. Charles Academy for their 18U AAA team, where he played with Bulldogs Alex Bosland and Noah Mertz, as well as Bulldogs Alumni Gates Omicioli.
The 2005-born forward is excited to continue his hockey journey for the Army Black Knights. Neu said, “It feels great. It’s been a goal of mine to play D1, and I finally have the chance to do that. I’m really excited for the future at Army.”
The excitement for Neu is felt through the entire Bulldogs organization. Bulldogs President of Hockey Operations, Doug Quinn, said, “I’m excited for Thomas. He joined our team last year just before Christmas. He has put in the work and has elevated his game. He is a major contributor and leader for the Bulldogs and a key reason for our success this season.”
Neu’s elevated play has resulted in 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points in 25 games played so far this season. The Hartland, Michigan product is tied for the 5th most points in the BC Hockey League (BCHL) entering tonight’s action.
The praise for Neu continued with Bulldogs Head Coach, Ryan Tobler, “We’re all extremely proud of Thomas. His compete level, commitment in practice, performance in games, and dedication to off-ice training have all paid off. Since joining the Bulldogs, he’s been a key piece of our lineup and has earned the full support of our staff and players. Army is getting a high-impact player and an outstanding young man.”
Al Parada, Bulldogs Director of Player Personnel, added his enthusiasm, “I am extremely excited and proud of Thomas getting this opportunity to continue his hockey journey and education at Army West Point. It is one of the top schools for education and hockey in D1. This is well deserved, and Thomas has worked very hard to become one of the top players in our league to earn a commitment in D1 hockey. Army is getting a great player and even better person and teammate who will definitely be an asset to their program at West Point.”
Neu has enjoyed his experience in Blackfalds so far. “My time in Blackfalds has been everything I could have asked for. The whole organization is a class act and treats all their players professionally. The staff here played a huge role in helping me reach my goals. This year has been something special so far, and I am looking forward to enjoying the second half.
Neu is ready to continue the season strong and finish with the ultimate prize. “Now that I have my commitment, it’s time to fully focus on what matters, our team and winning the Rogers Cup.”
The entire Bulldogs organization would like to congratulate Thomas and his family on his commitment to Army West Point!
